Thus, I thought it would be more interesting to showcase the creation process of Valari, a roller coaster that is heavily inspired in the Boomerang coaster from Fiesta Texas and St. Louis.
I started out by blocking out with brushes on the 3D Skybox the general layout of the coaster. I made a quick station to get a sense of scale.
Notice how the track starts out with a 0 degree bank, and then by the end it is twisted around 30 degrees. I haven't been able to solve this issue by rolling the spline points. Please if you have an idea on how to do this from the spline let me know, because I solve this by hand. That is right, I then go into vertex mode and start manipulating each track element one by one, making sure it looks natural. This process takes the most time, but it's also important to not speed through, as any faults will be visible and I will just have to come back and re edit it.
For this week I have some playtests scheduled out. I hope it all goes smoothly. I will keep on working on the 3D skybox, I have some more roller coaster ideas that should look very cool so I have lots to do. We will see what I have to show for at the end of the week.
